About Me

Hey, I'm Dan, a tattooist based at 652 Crown Tattoo in Surry Hills, Sydney. I specialise in black and grey fine line tattoos, with a focus on clean, detailed work and custom designs. I also enjoy tattooing blackwork, tribal and traditional pieces, and regularly take on walk-ins and same-day tattoo appointments. Whether you've got a fully planned design or just an idea to work from, I'd love to help bring it to life.

Tattoo FAQ

What do you charge?

Some pieces I will be able to quote depending on sizing, subject matter and location you are wanting it placed. Others may end up being a full day rate which can vary from $800 to $1200 depending on the length of the day, how long you are comfortable to sit and the style of the piece or pieces we are doing. I'm also able to continue on with existing pieces for shorter sessions at $200 per hour.

Do fine line tattoos fade?

All tattoos soften over time, but careful placement, professional application, and proper aftercare help fine line tattoos heal cleanly and age well. Prior to getting your tattoo please make sure you are keeping the area moisturised and from sun damage for at least 1-2 months, it can be hot in Sydney, Australia so make sure you are taking care of your skin and it will take care of you.

What is the tattoo healing process?

Healing usually involves keeping the tattoo clean, avoiding soaking and direct sun, and following the aftercare instructions provided after the appointment. But just remember, if you need any help at all you can always contact me through Instagram @finelinewalkwithme.

How do I prepare for my tattoo appointment?

Make sure you have a big breakfast or lunch (depending on the booking time and yes, that's a subtle hint that I am available for bookings in the evenings) before the appointment, a big meal can really help manage the pain of the tattoo. Bring along some snacks as well if it's a longer session, and request a break whenever you need it.

Avoid having a full-on night before the tattoo appointment and avoid non-prescription drugs or alcohol. Make sure you have accessible clothing for the tattoo location, for example; if you are getting your stomach tattooed; wear comfy pants, if you are getting your back tattooed; bring a button down shirt you can wear backwards.

How long does a tattoo session take?

Session length can depend on the design, placement and sizing. Small fine line tattoos may look quick but depending on detail requested end up being quite lengthy. I am happy to take on any and all requests (besides photorealistic portraits), but when taking into account how long will the session be all I can give is a ballpark timeframe as well as the advice to not make plans for after the booking and just go with the flow.

I tattoo primarily with a 12 Gauge 1 RL so the process can at times be slow however it gives me the look to my work which has brought you here to read this. If I can see that the piece can be completed in that session I will provide a quoted amount so you are aware of the exact cost your tattoo will be before we start, otherwise I will suggest a day rate charge for sessions that will be what I provide my full working day of attention to.

Can I book a consultation online?

Yes. Use the online booking request form to send your idea, placement, preferred date, budget, mobile number, and reference images. You can also contact me via Instagram @finelinewalkwithme at any time to organise a booking or consultation.
